Can I become certified in Yoga Tune Up®, The Roll Model® Method, or Body by Breath®?

Yes, we’d love to welcome you to our certified teacher community! Certification benefits vary by format. Visit our Certification Trainings page for an overview of each training and its benefits. Completing all three certifications qualifies you for Tune Up Fitness Certified®. For questions, email [email protected].

What’s the difference between Yoga Tune Up®, The Roll Model® Method, and Body by Breath®?

Yoga Tune Up® focuses on movement and anatomy. The Roll Model® Method is about self-myofascial release with therapy balls, and Body by Breath® builds resilience through breathwork.

Which certification should I take first?

It depends on your goals. We recommend taking all three, as they work together. Yoga Tune Up® is the most intensive, while The Roll Model® and Body by Breath® are lighter and less time-consuming.

Can I get a refund if I register for a Certification Training?

There are no refunds for certification trainings as they each have limited cohorts and typically sell out. For emergency issues, you may transfer your registration to the next available training.

What if a training I registered for gets cancelled?

Training and events may be canceled at any time. Refunds are issued by the entity you paid, and you can either receive a full refund or transfer your registration to a future training. Tune Up Fitness only refunds fees paid directly to us. Registrants are responsible for any personal costs related to their attendance.

Is there a cost to becoming Certified in any of your formats (YTU, Roll Model, or Body by Breath)?

After completing the training, there are annual licensing fees for YTU and Roll Model. YTU has a $125 initial license fee and a $95 yearly renewal fee, while Roll Model® has a $50 annual fee. There is no certification fee for Body by Breath. Both YTU and Roll Model certifications come with many benefits.

Am I able to teach YTU, Roll Model Method, Body by Breath Classes or Workshops after completing the respective Trainings?

You can start integrating what you’ve learned into your existing classes, workshops, or private sessions right away. However, to officially teach YTU, Roll Model®, or Body by Breath classes or workshops that are branded in any way as such, you must complete all steps to become licensed and certified in that format.

How can I host a Certification Training at my studio, gym, or facility?

Email us at [email protected] with your contact details, location, the type of training you want to host, and a preferred timeframe. We’ll get back to you with more information. Thank you for your interest!

Do you have Scholarship opportunities?

Yes, please email us at [email protected] for a scholarship application.

Can I get CECs from your Certification Trainings?

The Yoga Tune Up® Certification Training, Roll Model® Practioner Training, and the Body By Breath Immersion are considered continuing education and provide CEC credits for Yoga Alliance, NASM, AFAA, NPCP, AND IAYT. They do not count toward a 200 or 300 Hour Teacher Training unless it is a part of the training curriculum. In addition, the Treat While You Train Correspondence Course and Rolling Along the Anatomy Trains program also provide various CECs. Please visit each respective page for details.

I have other questions about the Yoga Tune Up®, the Roll Model® Method, or Body by Breath® Trainings.

For questions about any of our trainings, please refer to the Certification Trainings  page, the FAQ section here, or email [email protected]

What does it mean when an instructor is certified in one of your Formats?

Certified Roll Model® Method Practitioner, Body by Breath Instructors or Yoga Tune Up® Teachers have gone through extensive training and testing and have a high level of knowledge of anatomy and skill using our soft tissue tools.

How can I find a Certified teacher in my area?

Are the videos appropriate during pregnancy?

We have one program specifically for pregnancy, Roll Model Mama, available in the Video Library. Other videos were not designed for pregnancy, and not all may be safe. Always consult your doctor before starting any new exercise during pregnancy.

My doctor said I should start practicing yoga, is this what he meant?

Possibly! However, it’s best to confirm with your doctor exactly what they recommend before starting any exercise program. Many healthcare professionals endorse Yoga Tune Up®, the Roll Model® Method and Body by Breath®, but it’s safest to check with your provider first.

I have a pre-existing medical condition, is it ok to do Yoga Tune Up®,The Roll Model® Method or any of thy Body by Breath® practices?

If you have any pre-existing medical conditions, consult your doctor before starting any exercises or classes related to these formats to ensure it’s safe for you.

I am allergic to latex, is it ok to use the Roll Model® Therapy Balls?

If you have a severe latex allergy, we recommend not using the Therapy Balls as they are made from natural latex. For mild allergies, you can use them with a layer of clothing between your skin and the balls. Always check with your doctor if you have concerns.

Can I modify exercises if I’m new to fitness or have limited mobility?

Yes! Many of our programs, including Yoga Tune Up® and the Roll Model® Method, offer modifications to suit various fitness levels and mobility. Body by Breath exercises are mostly breath based but often utilize various Roll Model Therapy Balls. If you’re new to fitness or have limited mobility, start slowly and listen to your body. Always feel free to consult with your healthcare provider if you’re unsure.

Which Online Course should I get first?

It depends on your personal needs, goals, and interests. Look at our Online Course Catalog page for the course that best fits you. If you need more guidance, feel free to contact us at [email protected].

How long are Online Courses available to me?

The availability of each course varies. Some courses offer unlimited access, while others are available for a specific period. This will be clearly outlined in the course description.

Can I get a refund on an Online Course?

Unfortunately, we do not offer refunds for online courses.

How does the online testing work?

You can access a course through your personal dashboard if a course includes a test. For tests like the Roll Model, Body by Breath, and Treat While You Train, you have 90 days to complete them, with the option to pause and resume. A score of 90% or higher is required to pass. The tests are divided up in to sections with an equal amount of questions. You must pass each section to move forward to the next. Once you pass, a certificate will be emailed to you. The Yoga Tune Up exam is due 30 days after the course closes. This exam is a Word Doc to be downloaded and filled in directly on the exam. The completed exams are then mailed in.

Why do I sometimes feel new aches and pains when rolling or doing Yoga Tune Up®?

New aches can occur as your body adapts to new movements and stresses, often from previously unused tissues or “Body Blind Spots.” This is a normal part of the adaptation process. With continued practice, the pain should decrease. However, if the pain persists, it’s best to consult your doctor.

What happens if my limb goes numb during a stretch or rollout?

Numbness may happen when nerve fascia is overstretched, temporarily restricting nerve impulses. Simply ease off the stretch and allow circulation to return. If numbness continues, see your doctor to rule out any underlying issues.

What’s the difference between good pain and bad pain?

Good pain is a comfortable level of discomfort, indicating you’re stretching to your body’s limit. Bad pain, like searing heat or electrical sensations, suggests you’ve gone too far and may have injured yourself. If you experience this, stop immediately and apply ice.

How can I avoid injury while rolling or doing Yoga Tune Up®?

To avoid injury, always listen to your body and never push past your limit. Start slowly and gently, gradually increasing intensity. Focus on alignment, control, and breath, and never force any movement. If something feels off, stop and reassess.

How often should I practice Yoga Tune Up® or Roll Model®?

It depends on your goals and your body’s response. Some people benefit from daily practice, while others prefer 3-4 times a week. Pay attention to how your body feels and adjust your practice accordingly. Rest and recovery are just as important as practice.

I’m new to rolling or Yoga Tune Up®, where should I start?

Start with basic movements and exercises to familiarize yourself with the techniques. Focus on areas where you feel tightness or discomfort, and progress gradually. Our introductory programs and videos are great for beginners, and don’t hesitate to ask for guidance if needed.

What is the Roll Model® Practitioner Certification?

The Roll Model® Method Practitioner Training is a professional education program from Tune Up Fitness that uses proprietary therapy balls to teach fascia-informed self-myofascial release, sensory mapping, pressure exploration, and tissue adaptability for comfort, mobility, and resilience. Designed for fitness professionals, movement educators, and clinicians worldwide, the training emphasizes non-clinical, education-based practices designed for real-world application in gyms, clinics, studios and with private clients.

What is the Yoga Tune Up® Certification Teacher Training?

The Yoga Tune Up® Teacher Training is a professional education program from Tune Up Fitness that teaches biomechanics-informed movement, joint awareness, and functional movement patterns, with self-myofascial release integrated to support movement quality and body literacy.  Designed for yoga teachers, fitness professionals, movement educators, and clinicians globally, participants learn how to skillfully integrate Yoga Tune Up® methods, including strength-based movement, self-massage with therapy balls, and body literacy principles, into classes, private sessions, and wellness settings.

What is the Body by Breath® Immersion?

Body by Breath® Immersion from Tune Up Fitness Worldwide centers on how breath, posture, and the tissues of respiration interact with nervous system state. It teaches breath-informed movement and self-care practices that may support downregulation, breathing awareness, and resilience, using self-myofascial release as preparation for the breathing anatomy.

What is the difference between The Roll Model® Method and Yoga Tune Up®?

The Roll Model® Method uses Therapy Balls for soft-tissue conditioning and self-myofascial release, combining breath work, alignment, anatomy instruction, and mental awareness. Yoga Tune Up® is a movement-based fitness format with dynamic and static exercises aimed at improving body awareness, proprioception, and motor control, while addressing body biomechanics and daily habits. Both incorporate mindset work for greater body awareness.

How does the Body by Breath® Immersion differ from Yoga Tune Up® and The Roll Model® Method trainings?

The Body by Breath® Immersion differs from Yoga Tune Up® and The Roll Model® Method by focusing specifically on breath mechanics, breathing anatomy, and nervous system–informed movement education, rather than primarily on movement programming or self-myofascial release techniques. While all three Tune Up Fitness trainings are fascia-focused, science-informed, and non-clinical, each has a distinct educational emphasis.

What is the difference between a Roll Model® Practitioner,  a Yoga Tune Up® Teacher and a Body by Breath® Instructor?

Roll Model® Practitioners are certified to teach Roll Model® Method workshops and classes, focusing on self-myofascial release using Therapy Balls. Yoga Tune Up® Teachers are certified to teach Yoga Tune Up® classes, workshops, and Teacher Trainings, which focus on body movement and awareness. Body by Breath Instructors are trained and certified to lead Body by Breath exercises.

To become Tune Up Fitness® Certified, you must successfully complete all three of Tune Up Fitness’ professional education trainings and their associated exams. This certification represents a comprehensive, fascia-focused, education-based approach to self-care, movement, and resilience that can be applied within many fitness, wellness and clinical modalities.

The required trainings are:

  1. Roll Model® Method Practitioner Training – focused on fascia-informed self-myofascial release and sensory-based self-care education
  2. Yoga Tune Up® Teacher Training – centered on biomechanics-informed movement, strength, and body literacy
  3. Body by Breath® Immersion – dedicated to breath mechanics, breathing anatomy, and nervous system–informed movement education

Once all three trainings and exams are completed, you earn the Tune Up Fitness® Certified designation. This certification signals that you are trained in Tune Up Fitness’ integrated system of fascia-focused self-care, breath-informed movement, and biomechanics-based education, and that you can responsibly apply these methods in fitness, wellness, and movement education settings worldwide.

How do I use massage balls?

If you’re looking for free resources, begin with our blog Self-Myofascial Release Techniques With Massage Balls. It introduces the different Therapy Balls, explains the difference between helpful sensation and pain to avoid, and includes simple beginner videos. You can also view this page How to Use Massage Balls, featuring videos of every body area from head to toe.

You can also explore our YouTube channel and Video On Demand library for guided routines, tutorials, and deeper education to support consistent, safe self-care at home or on the go.

A great guide is The Roll Model® book by Jill Miller, which explains the why behind self-myofascial release and shows you how to use Therapy Balls right away. It also helps you build body awareness so you can explore the practices with more confidence.

How do I soften new Therapy Balls?

To break in your new YTU Therapy Balls, take both balls out and place them on the floor near a wall or chair to hold onto for balance. Start by rolling one ball under the most arched part of your foot, moving your ankle side to side 10-20 times.

Then, move the ball to your heel and rub it side to side with as much pressure as feels comfortable, also 10-20 times. Next, place the ball at the base of your toes and gently roll it side to side 10-20 times. Finish by rolling the ball up and down the length of your foot 10-20 times.
Once you finish with one foot, repeat the entire process on your other foot using the second Therapy Ball. Doing this will help loosen and relax your feet, leaving them feeling amazing and ready to go!

What is the difference between the Original Therapy Ball pair, the PLUS pair, and the ALPHA Ball?

The main difference between the solid YTU balls is their size. Each has a firm core with a softer, grippy outer layer. Bigger balls cover more area but might be less precise, while smaller balls like the original YTU Balls target tight spots better. You can use them interchangeably based on how much pressure you want.

The ALPHA Balls work well on the chest and buttocks, while the PLUS balls are great for the back of the neck and spine. Bigger bodies might prefer the larger PLUS and ALPHA balls, but the original balls are still important for tight areas. Together, these three sizes give you the right tools for every body part and pressure level.

Please note: Do not use any of the Therapy Ball products directly on your abdomen. For abdominal massage, use the Coregeous Ball.

What’s the best way to maintain my Roll Model® Therapy Balls?

The Roll Model® Therapy Balls (YTU OG’s, PLUS, ALPHA) are made of natural rubber, so they can dry out and lose grip if left in sunlight, air, or moisture for too long. Over time, they soften with use, but to keep them in good shape, store them in a bag or drawer away from wet clothes or towels.

To clean the balls, wipe them with a damp cloth and then dry them completely. This helps keep their grip strong. Taking good care of your therapy balls will help them last longer and work better!

How long should my Therapy Balls last?

We suggest replacing your Therapy Balls every 6 to 12 months, depending on how often you use them and how you store them. Over time, the balls, especially the Original size, will soften and break down with use.

This softening can be good for smaller, bony areas like wrists, elbows, ankles, knuckles, and toes. But softer balls might not give enough pressure for larger areas, so it’s helpful to have different pairs for different body parts and pressure needs.

How do I clean the YTU Therapy Balls?

To keep your Therapy Balls clean, wipe them gently with a damp towel, then dry them with a dry towel to keep their grip. Don’t soak them in water. If they have a slight oily feel when new, wipe them off with a dry cloth. Any regular cleaner works if the oil gets on your floor or mat.

Are there latex or phthalates in any of the Therapy Ball products?

The Roll Model Therapy Balls are made from natural latex rubber. If you have a serious latex allergy, it’s best not to use them. If your allergy is mild, you might be okay using them with a layer of clothing between the ball and your skin. Always check with your doctor first.

The solid Therapy Balls (Original YTU, PLUS, ALPHA) don’t contain phthalates, but the Coregeous Ball has a trace amount, well below safety limits, and has passed all required safety tests. Do not leave the Coregeous Ball on varnished or lacquered wood for too long, as it might stick or cause damage.

My Therapy Balls have an odor. Is this normal?

Our solid Therapy Balls are made from natural rubber and might have a slight new-rubber smell at first, like a new car or sneakers. Some people notice it more, but it’s normal and will fade over time with use. To help the smell go away faster, gently rub the balls with a towel. Don’t worry, the scent will disappear completely after a while!

Why are the Therapy Balls sometimes called Yoga Tune Up® Therapy Balls and other times called Roll Model® Therapy Balls?

The term Yoga Tune Up® Therapy Balls specifically refers to the original YTU Therapy Balls. On the other hand, The Roll Model® Therapy Balls include all the different balls used in The Roll Model® Method and YTU.

This includes the YTU Therapy Balls (OG’s), the Therapy Ball PLUS, the ALPHA Ball, and the Coregeous® Ball. Together, these are all considered The Roll Model Therapy Balls.

Many people also refer to them as “Tune Up Balls”; it’s really up to you how you want to call them, as long as you’re putting them to good use!

How do I blow up the Coregeous Ball??

  1. Place the straw into the Coregeous air valve opening.
  2. Take a deep breath and inflate to your desired size. (Extra points if you can do it in one breath!)
  3. Once inflated, plug the valve to seal it.

For best results, inflate to about 85% capacity. The ball should be around 7″ high (22 cm in circumference), but the size may vary by up to 1″.

I’ve lost or damaged my tote. Where can I get another one?

Please contact [email protected], and if you purchased the product from our website directly, we will work with you to get a new one.

What is the Coregeous Ball weight limit?

The Coregeous Ball is burst-proof and can hold up to 250lbs. This means it can handle pressure, but if 250lbs were focused on one small spot, it could burst.

However, when using the ball for massage, most of your body’s weight is supported by the floor, and only the targeted area applies pressure to the ball. So, there’s no risk of bursting, even if your weight exceeds 250lbs.

If the ball does burst within 6 months of purchase from our website and it’s not due to improper storage, we’ll help with a replacement or refund.

What is the size of the Coregeous Ball?

Coregeous Ball sizes do vary in size and materials due to the nature of manufacturing this product, but on average, they should be 7” in diameter.

Coregeous Ball Precautions – CAUTION!

The Coregeous Ball can stick to varnished or lacquered wood furniture if left on it too long. Avoid placing it on wood coffee tables, nightstands, or similar surfaces. It’s safe to use on hardwood floors, though.

What Videos are in the Tune Up Fitness VOD Library?

The Tune Up Fitness Video On Demand library includes Online Classes, Mentorship Sessions, Title Series Segments, and the Yoga Tune Up® At Home Program. Online Classes last 30–60 minutes and focus on mobility, pain relief, strength, relaxation, and soft-tissue recovery. Mentorship Sessions are one-hour interactive talks with Jill Miller and guests that include exercise tips and Q&A.

The Title Series Segments are videos from their old DVDs, now available online. The Yoga Tune Up® At Home Program has 24 classes arranged in four levels, with each level getting harder as you progress.

Can I rent or purchase any of your Videos from the Video Library?

All Videos within the Video Library are available for a 7-day rental, and Collections (multiple videos together in a playlist) are 30-day rentals. Rental prices vary.

What videos are best to get started with?

This is a difficult question based on your needs and interests. We recommend you visit our New to Tune Up Fitness page, a great place to start. If you need additional assistance, please feel free to contact us.

Do you have free content?

Yes, we have lots of free content. We suggest you start with our Movement of the Week and Rollout of the Week. There are also many free videos in the Tune Up Fitness Self-Care articles and our social channels, such as YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram.

Do your videos have closed captioning or language translation?

Most of our videos do not have closed captions or language translation yet, although many of our online courses do, including Walking Well and Rolling Along the Anatomy Trains. Updating our site to be ADA compliant is ongoing.

Do your videos come with a PDF of the exercises?

Not typically, but the PRO Club Subscription includes a PDF of each MOVE BREATHE ROLL online class you watch.

What are the different Video Subscription types available on the Tune Up Fitness site?

Tune Up Fitness offers three Video Subscription options that give you access to its online Video On Demand library of self-massage, movement, breath, mobility, and resilience content:

  1. Bronze Subscription – A monthly plan that lets you choose a limited number of videos from the library each month (typically 3 videos plus a curated bonus), with 24/7 access and perks like rental discounts and product offers.
  2. Platinum Subscription – A monthly all-access subscription to the full video library, including all MOVE, BREATHE, ROLL online classes, mentorship sessions (live and replay), and video collections.
  3. PRO Club Subscription – A longer-term (6-month) plan that includes all Platinum benefits plus additional perks for fitness professionals and clinicians, such as course discounts, wholesale product minimum reductions, and bonus specialty content.

Both Bronze and Platinum plans come with a 7-day free trial so you can explore before you commit.

Which Subscription is best for me?

If you want easy access to many videos and new releases, choose the Platinum Subscription. For a few videos each month and rental discounts, the Bronze Subscription is great. And if you’re a fitness pro or clinician needing advanced education and using products with clients, the pro club Subscription is ideal.

How does the Subscription program work?

Once you register for a subscription, you will gain access to all the benefits applicable to the subscription level you purchased. You will be billed that subscription rate on the same day of the month each proceeding month until the subscription is put on hold or cancelled.

Can I cancel or put my subscription on hold?

You can pause or cancel your subscription anytime, but changes take effect at the end of your current billing cycle. You’ll still have video access until then. For pro club, that’s the end of a six-month cycle. Pausing keeps your viewing history, but canceling will erase it.

How do I cancel my Subscription?

Go to your personal user dashboard, click on Settings button to the right of your subscription name, then click cancel.

Can I get a refund for my subscription?

There are no refunds on subscriptions after the purchase has been made. You may cancel or put your subscription on hold, but please see the FAQ for “Can I cancel or put my subscription on hold” for details.

What happens to the videos I watched or favorited if I cancel my subscription

If you put your subscription on hold, all history will be retained in your account; however, if you cancel your subscription, all history will be removed and will not be accessible in the future should you rejoin. We recommend that, if you feel there is a chance of rejoining, you just put your subscription on hold.

What are the membership options?

Please visit the Video on Demand page for details on all Subscription options.

How can I upgrade or downgrade my membership?

You can upgrade Bronze or Platinum immediately and will only pay the prorated difference between the subscription you are in and the upgrade at the time of the upgrade. You can downgrade, but the downgrade will occur at the end of the current monthly cycle, and all future months will be billed at the downgraded rate. A PRO CLUB subscription can be downgraded, but it will not take effect until the end of the six-month cycle for a PRO CLUB subscription.

Can I just purchase one video, and how long will it be available to me?

There are no videos available for Purchase in the Video Library, but all videos are available for a 7-day rental.
